Announcing 2006 Starfish Award Recipients The National Rescue Committee of the Golden Retriever Club of America is pleased to announce the winners of the 2006 Starfish Award. This year there are two individual winners, who also happen to be husband and wife teams deeply committed to Rescue. The winners are Nancy and Allan Kiesler of Evergreen Golden Retriever Rescue in Renton, Washington, and Jody and Mike Jones of Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue and Sanctuary in Elverta, California. Web site updates We added several new sections to the site.  Links to local Golden Retriever Clubs/Rescue groups in Canada and the United Kingdom.  And a new links page, where we will post links to other organizations and/or educational sites.

The Golden Rescue and Community Excellence (G.R.A.C.E.) Awards were named for Grace, rescued by Rescue A Golden of Arizona. Grace maintained her Golden dignity despite much abuse,neglect, and abandonment. The G.R.A.C.E. Award recognizes the role that Golden Retriever Rescue dogs play and is awarded annually to Rescued Golden Retrievers that have excelled in any of the following areas: Heroism, Animal-Assisted Therapy or Service, Education, and Law Enforcement. From among the winners, one Golden is designated Outstanding Rescued Golden of 2004. The Awards for 2004 were presented at the Golden Retriever Club of America's National Specialty in October 2004.
