Licensing complies with state requirements
Board and officers are appointed
This program uses foster homes and boarding kennels if fosters are full.

This program has written policies
This program works with purebred goldens
Requires a dog be returned if the owner cannot keep
Takes ownership of a dog upon intake
Follows up with adopters after placement
Dogs are observed and evaluated before adoption
All dogs receive all vaccines (Rabies, DHLPP and any other regionally appropriate tests) before adoption
All dogs have all tests (heartworm, fecal and other regionally appropriate tests) before adoption.
All dogs are altered (spayed or neutered) before adoption.
GLGRR adopts to Michigan and the Great Lakes Region

Other requirements of adoption:
a) Call the current Vet Clinic reference
b) Provide proof of secure area for the Golden
c) Guiding an applicant toward the Golden which would be best for their family
d) Home visit when concerns are found

Other program features:
a) Listing of obedience classes in the area
b) Using our volunteers who have training talents to help the adopting families who have problems
c) Annual update letter for Golden to identify death, health problems, etc.

Considerations for intake/surrender:
a) Try to keep a well-rounded selection of ages available for adoption.
b) No Goldens who are aggressive to humans or animals will be accepted.
c) Personal evaluation of all goldens whether from a shelter or an owner surrender.
