Special Rescues Helping Special Goldens In Need

In addition to the silver linings, rescue is also called upon to take in, care for and in some cases rehabilitate dogs that have been the victims of severe neglect or abuse.

In this section of our website we will highlight groups that are in the process of taking in, or rehabilitating dogs, that are in need of significant special care.

A story from Golden Treasures of Ohio....

who refused to give up.

Ben arrived into Rescue September of 2005 as an owner surrender. He weighed 135lbs and was unable to stand for any length of time and could only walk a short distance. He also has epilepsy, which had been ignored by his previous owners.

Foothills Golden Retriever Rescue
In early May the Haywood County sheriff's deputies and animal control officers acting on a tip found a number of goldens abandoned at a grooming shop. In a report, deputies said they discovered six dead dogs and 19 kept in pet carriers and small cages that hadn't been cleaned.  These dogs, ranged in age from one year to eleven years and weighed as little as 18 pounds.  Most weighed between 20 - 30 pounds.  Normal weight for a golden is 50 or more pounds for females and 70 or more for a male.
